Fixed Route Service Changes Effective April 1

Lebanon Transit announces new destinations, expanded schedules

[Lebanon, PA] – Lebanon Transit announced today that several changes to ten (10) of its fixed bus routes will take effect Monday, April 1, 2024. The affected routes include Route 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8 (Saturday only), 16, 16C, 17, and Route 10 Old Forge Express. Additionally, Route SS (Saturday Special) will become known as Route 7.

The result of extensive public input collected during summer 2023, highlights of notable route changes include:

  • Connecting to new destinations, like the Lebanon Valley Expo Center; North Cornwall Commons, where Mick’s All American Pub, Fairfield Inn, and other businesses are located; Chestnut View Apartments (forthcoming at the old Lebanon Catholic School property), and downtown Hershey (Saturdays).
  • Weis Markets and ALDI on the eastside of Lebanon will be on different routes.
  • Adding stops at the Lebanon VA Medical Center.
  • Adding more evening trips to shopping centers, like Lebanon Walmart and Lebanon Plaza, where Kohl’s and other businesses are located.
  • Avoiding delays at rail crossings in Lebanon City by better utilizing 9th and 10th
  • Streamlining routes by reducing the number of turns and eliminating segments with few customers, such as Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course.

“We want to be responsive to our customers. These changes are needed to address the rapid growth of our community,” said Teri Giurintano, Lebanon Transit executive director.

Updated route maps and schedules will be found online at https://lebanontransit.org/routes/, onboard all buses, at the Transfer Station at 7th and Willow Streets, and at Lebanon Transit’s main office at 200 Willow Street in Lebanon beginning March 31.

Customers can be prepared ahead of the changes taking effect by previewing the new route maps online at https://lebanontransit.org/changes/. Customers can also track real-time bus information on Lebanon Transit’s website at https://realtime.lebanontransit.org/InfoPoint or by downloading the free myStop Mobile App onto their Apple or Android phone. Customers are also encouraged to sign-up for free text service alerts by texting “UPDATE” to 833-702-4057.

Lebanon Transit reminds customers that its fixed route buses operate as a flag stop service. A person can simply wave to signal a driver to stop anywhere along the bus route. The bus will stop at the closest safe spot to allow boarding.

No changes are planned for Commute King Express services to Harrisburg, Route 88, or Shared Ride services.
